Roger Wallace Johnson
April 24, 1928 – March 10, 2012
Roger Wallace Johnson, 83, born April 24, 1928, died March 10, 2012 of natural causes.
Roger graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles then went on to Los Angeles City College, graduating in 1950. He lettered in basketball at both schools. He joined the Army in 1950, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1952. Then he entered USC, and graduated in 1954. The summer of 1954 started Roger’s long career in the insurance business with the Aetna, until he retired in 1988. He was an underwriter, a trainer, and a mentor.
All who knew Roger knew him as a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend. He had a quick wit, loved going to the races, pampering loved ones (two and four legged alike), hanging out with his golfing pals and all things USC. Especially in the USC football traditions.
Roger was preceded in death by wife, Billy Jane in 1989, and wife, Dorothy in 2003. Surviving Mr. Johnson are his sister, Eleanor Peart of Reston, Va., his niece and her husband, Caroline and Richard Hamilton also of Reston, Va., and his nephew and his wife, Franklin and Kelly Peart of New Mexico.
Roger requested that there be no services, and in lieu of flowers, on his behalf we are recommending donations to the USC football program or the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
